Aspiring Avalanche dogs is a non-profit organization and a
registered charity that provides a primary response avalanche
search dog service to the ski areas and backcountry of the
Southern Lakes Region.
Based at Treble Cone Ski Area in Wanaka our highly trained dog
teams can be rapidly deployed around the clock to help locate
skiers, snowboarders and mountaineers unlucky enough to be
caught in an avalanche.
Our teams cover Treble Cone,
Cardrona,
Snow Park and
Snow Farm near Wanaka and
Coronet
Peak and
The Remarkables near Queenstown, and backcountry heli-ski
terrain across the Southern Lakes Region.
Aspiring Avalanche Dogs are fully endorsed and work alongside
the Mountain Safety Council,
NZ Land SAR, the
Department of
Conservation and the
NZ Police.
As a non-profit organization we reply on the generosity of our
sponsors, support of community funding bodies, our own
fund-raising initiatives and public donations in order to
provide a world-class avalanche search-dog service to New
Zealand’s Southern mountains.
